Junko Suzumoto


Junko Suzumoto, a Japanese married to Malaysian, introduced Waldorf education to Malaysia through establishing Nania, a pre-school center, in Penang, in 1997. After working as a Japanese government school and special education teacher for 10 years, Junko left Japan to do social work at a community for mentally challenged adults in the USA (2 years) and studied Waldorf Education (class and kindergarten teaching) for 4 years at Emerson College, UK before settling in Penang.

Junko is class teacher and principal of two Nania kindergarten. She has a passion for puppetry, art and craft work. Over the years she has conducted puppetry workshops for children and adults. At her kindergarten, there is an ongoing craft class for the age group of 6 to 8 years old. She sometimes conducts training courses and occasionally does mentorship in Malaysia.
